[. . . ] MONITORING | ACCESS CONTROL | VIDEO SURVEILLANCE | RFID | INTRUSION DETECTION | EAS | FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY PRODUCT DATASHEET Sensormatic® RFID·Site Surveys Comprehensive RFID Site Surveys to Ensure Successful RFID Deployments Successful RFID solutions begin with a comprehensive assessment of the physical environment, the RF characteristics, and the products' materials at the deployment location. Whether in a manufacturing facility, warehouse, or distribution center, this work helps to identify and account for the many variables that exist and affect system design and performance. [. . . ] Workflow tells us the optimal points at which to apply RFID tags, read data, and record results. Product RFID characteristics are also important and can impact both number and placement of readers and antennas. We are able to predict system performance given the physical and RF variables identified, and recommend the exact equipment needed. Sensormatic RFID·Site Survey Level I: In a half-day on-site visit, we gather data on the physical layout and features of the facility, including power sources and existing network wiring. We note the facility's workflow to learn where RFID readers and antennas might be best placed. We also measure and record the various sources of RF in the production environment. Lastly, we note the types of goods and packaging that will be part of the RFID program and categorize them as "RFID friendly" or not. Sensormatic RFID·Site Survey Level II: In a one- to two-day site visit, we build on all of the investigative activities above and drill down much deeper into workflow processes and the RF characteristics of the products and packaging. We explore the facility's processes in much greater detail, following products off and on their transport vehicles as well as throughout their passage inside the facility, whether by forklift, hand-lift or conveyor. We document all aspects of the environment where RFID will be deployed. We assess how RFID labels might be best oriented, given the various possibilities of item-orientation in their cases, case and pallet dimensions, case stacking methods, shrink-wrapping and so forth. This level of site survey helps us to determine the number and placement of readers, antennas and other RFID system components. [. . . ] Tyco Fire & Security and ADT are proud to welcome the industry-leading Sensormatic RFID·Site Surveys to our open standards-based RFID product family.
