[. . . ] When you unpack an option or CRU, do not open the static-protective package containing the part until the instructions direct you to install it. When you handle options or CRUs, or perform any work inside the computer, take the following precautions to avoid static-electricity damage: · Limit your movement. Handle adapters, memory modules, and other circuit boards by the edges. · When you install a static-sensitive option or CRU, touch the static-protective package containing the part to a metal expansion-slot cover or other unpainted metal surface on the computer for at least two seconds. · When possible, remove the static-sensitive part from the static-protective packaging and install the part without setting it down. When this is not possible, place the static-protective packaging on a smooth, level surface and place the part on it. · Do not place the part on the computer cover or other metal surface. Replacing the battery Before you start, print these instructions. Note: This system does not support batteries that are not genuine Lenovo-made or authorized. The system will continue to boot, but may not charge unauthorized batteries. Attention: Lenovo has no responsibility for the performance or safety of unauthorized batteries, and provides no warranties for failures or damage arising out of their use. To replace the battery with a new one, read the following prerequisites. © Copyright Lenovo 2012 31 Prerequisites for the procedure DANGER If the rechargeable battery pack is incorrectly replaced, there is danger of an explosion. To replace the hard disk drive, refer to the instructions for the computer: · · "Lenovo 715 and B485" on page 35 "Lenovo B580" on page 37 Lenovo 715 and B485 To replace the hard disk drive, do the following: 1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer. Remove the screw 3 , and then slide the hard disk drive out 4 . 4 3 6. Attach the bracket to a new hard disk drive and reinstall the screws to secure the bracket. Place the new hard disk drive into the hard disk drive bay with the tab facing upwards and the connectors facing each other. Slide the hard disk drive firmly into place, and then reinstall the screw to secure the drive. Reinstall the computer cover, and then reinstall the screws to secure the cover.
