In the Alert Location section, check both Background and Marker. Click the Data cell selector button and select the Actual Value for Sales. Repeat steps 2-14, customizing the second Gauge and Slider components to display the "Inventories" data. For both components, set the Scale Minimum and Maximum limits to zero (0) and 108 respectively. For the Gauge, in the Color Order section, click Middle Values are Good. Repeat steps 2-14, customizing the third Gauge and Slider components to display the "Cost of Goods Sold" data. For both components: set the Scale Minimum and Maximum limits to zero (0) and 440 respectively. Click the Preview button to view the interaction between the Gauge and Slider components. The affect on the alert display of increasing or decreasing the Actual Value varies based on whether it should be higher or lower than the Target Value. Sales values should be high, while the Cost of Goods Sold should be low, and Inventory amounts should be as close as possible to its Target.

Creating templates
Xcelsius 2008 offers a set of templates you can use to create a new visualization. You can also create a visualization from scratch and save it as a template. Each Category contains a group of templates that are displayed under the Items section. As you select each template in the list, a preview of the template is shown on the right side of the screen. You can click on the selectors to see the intended functionality of the components. When selected, the template is inserted on the canvas as a new visualization. You can now add, delete or modify the template, and save it as a new visualization or as a modified or new template.

Custom-made templates
You can create your own templates. [. . . ] This option will determine the number of labels displayed by default in the drop-down menu of the panels.
Background Transparency
Use the slider or enter a value to adjust the transparency of the Panel Set's background. This setting does not affect the content of the component.
Specific to the Grid component
Vertical Margin
Enter a value or use the up/down arrows to adjust the value. This setting modifies the amount of space between each column of items in the Grid component.
Horizontal Margin
Enter a value or use the up/down arrows to adjust the value. This setting modifies the amount of space between each row of items in the Grid component.
Text tab
Select the box in the Show column adjacent to each text element you want to display on the component.
