[. . . ] €¢ Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to an authorized service facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment. €¢ Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is running. Connect and operate the appliance only in accordance with the specifications on the rating plate. [. . . ] Allow the kettle to cool down before installing / removing any parts and before cleaning it. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been provided supervision or instructions on the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Always make sure that the appliance is in good working order and that all its removable parts are secure. Therefore use only the handle to pick it up and open the lid only after the kettle has cooled down. BEFORE FIRST USE Carefully wipe the outside of the appliance to remove any dust that may have accumulated. If you are using the kettle for the first time, it is recommended that you clean it before use by boiling a full kettle of water twice and discarding the water. €¢ • • • • • • OPERATION OF YOUR KETTLE Use the kettle only with its included base. To fill the kettle, remove it from the power base and open the lid by pressing the lid opening button, fill with the desired amount of water, and then close the lid. The water level should not exceed the max marks or sit below the min level. Too little water will cause the kettle to switch off before the water has boiled. Do not add water over the maximum level, as it may spill out of the spout when boiling. Ensure that the lid is firmly in place before connecting the plug into a power outlet. Press the temperature setting button to set the temperature to 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 °C. When the water has reached the selected temperature, the kettle will switch off automatically, the display will show the temperature and a buzzer will sound. If the temperature cannot be set, this means that the water in the kettle is hotter than the desired temperature. You can turn off the kettle at any time by pressing the cancel button. €¢ • • • • The selected temperature can be changed at any time while the kettle is heating up. Be careful when pouring the water from your kettle as boiling water may cause scalds. 8 en it Below 45° C, the kettle automatically shuts down and goes into “standby” mode. If the container is removed and re-introduced before the heating process is over, the settings stay active for a few minutes. [. . . ] Disposal of old electrical appliances The European Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimise the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain and reduce the impact on human health and the environment. The crossed out “wheeled bin” symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you dispose of the appliance it must be separately collected. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance. [. . . ]
