[. . . ] As a result, images are significantly improved in a manner that is much more natural-looking. In-Camera Red-Eye Fix COOLPIX cameras offer refined red-eye reduction capability that surpasses other digital compacts. First, a series of preflashes stimulate the subject's pupils, causing them to constrict. The camera then analyzes the captured image for the remaining presence of red eyes, automatically correcting them in-camera before saving the image to memory. Without D-Lighting With D-Lighting Pictmotion - In-camera slideshow with music So much more than a slideshow, Pictmotion lets users share the fun of photography in a more creative, more entertaining way. Users simply select a range of their favorite images and movies, pick a visual style and choose from up to five pre-installed soundtracks or load up to ten new ones to suit the mood*. [. . . ] See total megapixel resolution. Active Zoom Unlike digital zooms which enlarge image data, active zoom crops the image from the maximum image size, thus minimizing image deterioration and delivering high-resolution data. Anti-reflection coating (LCD) Anti-reflection coating on the LCD monitor improves visibility and makes menus a greater pleasure to work with, even outdoors in the sunshine. Time-lapse Movie Time-lapse Movie mode creates silent movies from still images that you've shot at the interval of your choosing using the Time-lapse feature. Ideal for capturing action taking place over longer durations, it can be used, for example, to produce movies of flowers blooming, or clouds rushing across the sky. Blink warning Blink warning notifies you when a subject blinks during exposure, and allows you to immediately retake the shot. Pastel mode Enabled before shooting, Pastel mode creates a soft, impressionistic image similar to a watercolor painting. Total megapixel resolution Not all pixels record a part of the image. Some are purposely masked off to receive no light, producing a reference value from which to calibrate light received by the effective pixels. The number of masked-off pixels plus the number of effective pixels equals the total number of pixels. See effective megapixel resolution. Distortion control Corrects for barrel distortion occurring in wide-angle images and even displays the corrected image on the LCD in real time. Wide-viewing angle (LCD) LCD monitors with wider viewing angles enhance shooting versatility, while also making it easy for all to gather round and view images or slideshows. Face Zoom-in Zoom right in on the subject's face during playback, and use the Multiselector button to move freely to the faces of other subjects in the same photo. Sport Continuous Mode High-speed capture settings help keep you ahead of most any action scene you wish to shoot. TV/Small Size Movie T V movie mode records VGA-size images ( 640 x 480 pixels) that fit perfectly on a TV screen. Small Size movie produces QVGA-size movies (0 x 40 pixels). 1:1 size format 1:1 size format allows photos to be shot using 1:1 (square) perspective. Histogram display Histogram display makes it quick and easy to confirm proper exposure as you shoot. Smile mode Smile mode automatically releases the shutter when the selected subject smiles, helping to ensure smiles on the faces of loved ones. The Smile indicator, activated via Portrait mode, displays a gauge that changes when a smile is detected. Favorite scenes Register your three favorite scene modes to appear in the main Mode menu for easier access, and easily change your selections as you please. NIKKOR Lenses Highly respected by leading professional photographers, NIKKOR lenses are renowned for their outstanding autofocus performance, true-to-life color, high contrast and exceptional sharpness. Black border/White border Adds a black or white border around the edge of photos at replay, and saves the results as new image files. Best Shot Selector (BSS) Best Shot Selector automatically selects the shot with the sharpest focus from a series of consecutive images. Rotary multi selector The Rotary multi selector simplifies operation, speeds the selection of functions, and allows fast circular image scrolling at up to 10 shots per second.
