Choose A (auto) to adjust sharpening automatically, or choose from seven levels of adjustment between 0 (no sharpening) and 6. The higher the number, the sharper the picture, and the lower the number, the softer the picture. The default setting is 3 for Standard or Monochrome, 2 for Neutral and 4 for Vivid. Choose A (auto) to adjust the contrast automatically according to the type of scene, or choose from seven levels of adjustment between -3 and +3. ­ makes it into an image with a softer appearance, and + gives it a harder appearance. Choose lower values to prevent highlights in portrait subjects from being "washed out" in direct sunlight, higher values to preserve detail in misty landscapes and other low-contrast subjects.
