PAGE 164 144 BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE Your new appliance is a combined ventilated, no frost fridge-freezer exclusively for domestic use. The great advantage of this appliance is that the refrigerator and freezer compartments are ventilated, therefore there is no ice or frost formation on the walls, thanks to the process described below. The cold is produced by an evaporator and distributed to the single compartments by means of a fan. The air, after circulating in the compartments, is absorbed again by the evaporator, which also retains any humidity in the air. [. . . ] Foods can be arranged on any shelf paying attention not to obstruct the air vents, so that air can circulate. Storing food in the refrigerator compartment Position the food as shown in the figure. Dairy products, cheese To maintain the vitamins, aroma, substance and freshness of the food to be stored, it is advisable to wrap food in aluminium foil, cling film or place it in special freezer containers with lids. This will prevent odours from mixing. NOTES: • The space between the shelves and the rear wall must be unobstructed to allow circulation of air. • Do not place food in direct contact with the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment. • Storing vegetables with a high water content can result in condensation in the crisper drawer: this will not affect the correct operation of the appliance. • Defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is completely automatic. • The refrigerator can operate at ambient temperatures between +16°C and +43°C. 155 REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT INTERNAL FEATURES HALF-DEPTH AND TILTING SHELF (depending on the model) This shelf provides greater flexibility when storing foods in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. You may use it in the following positions: • Full-width position. Turn the shelf upward until it touches the back of the freezer compartment. • To remove the shelf, place it in the half-width position and push the back of the shelf upward until it is released. 1 2 3 FRESH CONTROL COMPARTMENT (depending on the model) This sliding compartment stays colder than the rest of the refrigerator compartment to keep daily foods fresh longer. If necessary to remove the extra-cold compartment for cleaning, pull it frontward to the stop. Keep the locks pressed as in the picture, and pull the shelf until it is released. • It is not advisable to remove the tilting front lid of extra cold compartment. 1 2 EXTRA SHELF (depending on the model) Your refrigerator is provided with an extra plastic shelf located under the extra cold compartment. • To use it, pull it frontward to the position indicated in the pictures. • When not in use, just pull it upward and then push it backward. • To remove the shelf, just slide the side locks as in the picture, and pull it toward you. • After replacing the extra shelf, slide the side locks in its original position. 1 2 3 156 SLIDING GLASS SHELVES (depending on the model) Your refrigerator is provided with sliding glass shelves which make it easier for you to access foods stored at the shelves or at lower shelves. • The edges of the shelves prevent split liquids from going to other compartments. Changing the position of shelves: Your refrigerator allows you to change the position of shelves according to your needs. • Keep the lock pressed down as shown in the picture detail, and pull the shelf frontward until it is released. • Remove the rails as in the picture and place them where you wish. • To place the rails observe the inscrition “ ” written on the rail. [. . . ] If the appliance door has been left open for a while or if large amounts of food have been stored, the motor will run longer in order to cool down the interior of the appliance. 163 Remember Motor running time depends on different things: number of door openings, amount of food stored, temperature of the room, setting of the temperature controls. If, after performing the above checks, your appliance still does not work properly, contact the After-sales Service, explain the problem, specifying the model and appliance service number (stated on the data plate). If the refrigerator temperature is too high • Is the appliance installed near a heat source? [. . . ]
